Philly Vegan Homecoming Celebrates Being Vegan in the City

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Humane League and V Marks the Shop have joined forces to organize a celebration to honor the City of Philadelphia and its growing vegan community. The event will be a fun-filled evening of music, dancing, delicious vegan food and community spirit. The first-ever Philly Vegan Homecoming will take place on Friday, September 9, 2016, at 7:00pm at Friends Center, located at 1501 Cherry Street, Philadelphia, PA.philly-vegan

With donations from local and national vegan-supported businesses, there will be food, drinks and raffle prizes from the likes of Mompops, Batter & Crumbs Bakery, I Heart Keenwah, MooShoes, Miyoko’s Kitchen, and more! Music will be provided by DJ Jimmy Brindley to dance the evening away. There will be vegan resources on-hand, and possibly a fun dance competition!

Rachel Black, Philadelphia Grassroots Director explains the goal of Philly Vegan Homecoming. “We at The Humane League are looking forward to hosting this unique event for Philadelphians-this city knows how to party! Homecoming will also be raising vital funds to support the urgent work of reducing animal suffering.”

Carlo Giardina, co-owner of V Marks the Shop, shares “Philly Vegan Homecoming will be an evening to get dressed up, dance, eat delicious food and have a good time with your friends and neighbors, vegans and non-vegans alike! It’ll be a great opportunity to show what’s great about being vegan in Philly!”

The event is open to those aged 13 and up. Tickets to Philly Vegan Homecoming are being sold on Eventbrite. Each ticket is $25.00, plus Eventbrite service fees. Food and drink are included. Raffle tickets will be available for sale. As this event is ppart fundraiser 50% of ticket proceeds will go to The Humane League.

V Marks the Shop will be a convenience “store for everyone,” offering 100% vegan and cruelty-free food and home goods. In addition to the setting up their physical store, V Marks the Shop has hosted vegan events in Philadelphia including Philly MAC-Down, Philly Vegan Pop Flea and the upcoming Super Philly Chili Bowl in February 2017.
