In a new poll out yesterday, September 3, 2016, Libertarian Gary Johnson has progressed to 12 percent in the IBD/TIPP poll. Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton were tied at 39 percent and Green Party candidate Jill Stein received three percent in the poll.
Even though Johnson remains largely unmentioned in the general media, the Internet and an exhaustive travel schedule is getting the word out that there are more than just two choices for voters this November when they decide who will be the next President of the United States. When the general media reports on the 2016 presidential race, Johnson is rarely mentioned alongside Trump and Clinton. The media also has failed in fulfilling their journalistic duties by not informing the public about Johnson and Stein. The Wall Street Journal has reported that most Americans either have never heard of Gary Johnson or know so little about him, that making a decision whether to vote for him results in them being unsure.
While most Americans do not like either Trump or Clinton, the media should be focused on other qualified, credible candidates like Johnson and Stein — but the media has failed to do so. They have provided more coverage in the past; however, many are asking why aren’t the four candidates treated equally. This is especially curious with Johnson as he, along with Trump and Clinton are the only three presidential candidates who will appear on all 50 ballots in the nation. Stein is expected to be on 24 or 25 state ballots.
