New CBS poll puts Clinton at 41%, Trump at 36% and Johnson at 10%

August 1, 2016 — A new CBS news poll out this morning shows that Democratic Party presidential nominee Hillary Clinton received a slight bump in the polls after receiving the party’s nomination. The poll was by telephone among a random sampling of 1,393 adults nationwide, including 1,131 registered voters.

When asked, “If the 2016 presidential election were being held today anHillary Clintond the candidates were Hillary Clinton, the Democrat, and Donald Trump, the Republican, and Gary Johnson, the Libertarian would you vote for Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump or Gary Johnson?” Clinton received 41 percent, Republican Party presidential nominee Donald Trump received 36 percent and Libertarian Party presidential nominee Gary Johnson received 10 percent.  Of the Clinton supporters, seven percent said they could change their  vote whereas for Trump it was eight percent who were not as committed which leaves a fair amount of swayable voters.

Another intetrump-free-useresting takeaway from this morning’s poll is that 50 and 52 percent of voters find Trump and Clinton, respectively, as unfavorable. Yet, many of these same voters seem willing to vote for them anyway. Johnson, who has polled as high as 13 percent nationally, seems to be meandering in the polls. This may be due to the media not treating him equally alongside Trump and Clinton during news broadcasts, instead, he is treated as someone they will mention from time-to-time.

Johnson is getting more airtime than any other Libertarian Party presidential nominee in the party’s history and this has translated into him polling better than any other nominee as well. Many have asked the question which could never be answered, “How would Johnson be polling if the establishment media gave Johnson the free airtime they gave Trump last summer?” It’s a valid question as it has been proven that the more media attention a candidate gets, the better that candidate will do in the polls. The mainstream media controls the gates to the White House.
