Certified Health and Wellness Coach, Cassandra McGurk, recently launched Soul Stew Gift Baskets, an online business offering gluten-free, paleo, and vegan products for those who need or choose to eat a specialized diet. “I started Soul Stew Gift Baskets because I felt like this was a niche that needed to be filled. We offer high quality products for people following specialized diets using all organic, sustainable materials.”
Some of the products include Nibmor Chocolates, Vital Choice Wild Salmon, and Artisana Nut Butters. “I know the products are good because I tasted every last one of them,” McGurk said. “My kids have tried many of them too. My daughter loves the 479 popcorn and my son likes the Ginny Bakes cookies.”
In addition, most of the distributors donate a portion of their proceeds to deserving charities. McGurk is following suit by donating 1% of each purchase to Wholesome Wave, an organization that makes fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables affordable and available to underserved communities.
“When you buy one of our baskets, you’ll not only be helping the recipient lead a healthier life, you’ll also be helping others in need. It’s the gift that keeps on giving.”
McGurk has always made health a priority, but when she discovered she had a gluten sensitivity, avoiding gluten became a way of life.
“I started eating healthy because I wanted to be fit, but once I found out I had a problem with gluten, I knew I had to make further adjustments to my diet. The thing is, many people are choosing to avoid gluten not because they have to, but because they want to. They’re realizing that they just feel better by eating that way. I know I do. The same is true for those who choose to follow a paleo or vegan diet.”
Prior to becoming a health and wellness coach, McGurk was an attorney for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. It was there that she became interested in healthy eating, food safety, and the politics of food and health. Having children further stimulated this interest leading her to her current career in the health and wellness industry.
