Florida vegan mother reunited with baby after being taken away by government

Sarah Markham, a Seminole County, Florida mother, was reunited with her baby son on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 after a judge ordered the Florida Department of Children and Families to do so. Markham’s ordeal began June 24, 2014, when a pediatrician felt Markham should bring her son to the hospital because the baby was underweight and Markham defied that suggestion which resulted in her arrest and her son being taken into state custody. Instead of taking her son to the hospital, Markham fed the baby soy formula, as she plans to raise her son with a vegan diet.
